«In the early evening, passing through Paris by the Louvre, I've noticed a strange activity
in the small labyrinth that borders the big pyramid. A dozen men are sneaking around
the bushes, some of them get in and out, others just get down from the staff staircase of
the museum and go further off. A motorcycle is being parked at the entrance of the bushes.
The biker, dressed in a dark protective suit, gets down the stairs without taking
off his helmet cap visor. Quickly, I figure out that it is a gay sex story.
The mystery clears up. I discover an amazing hunting area about a hundred
meters away from the most famous museum. The tuilerie labyrinth is one of the rare
parisian gardens opened 24 hours because there is no gate. It seems to be a cultural thing
dating back to the 18th century or even probably older. There are also more contemporary
stories about hard drugs, knife wounds and the police. While walking around,
I get baffled by all those torn bushes used as hiding spaces for hazardous excitement.
Damaged, transplanted, replanted and at the end, completely removed.
Most of it provides holes similar as burrows.
Afraid of seeing this garden I know and roamed long before being told about its secrets, disapear.
I have started to take pictures of this place at the precise moments when the sky offers its best range
of colors. I wasn't myself a partisan of those bushes, it seems important to keep
a decent romancy; an "Alice in wonderland" decor full of protagonists.»

« Un début de soirée. En traversant Paris par Le Louvre, je remarque une étrange activité
dans les petits labyrinthes qui bordent la grande pyramide. Une dizaine d’hommes rode dans
les buissons, certains rentrent puis sortent, d’autres descendent dans les escaliers de service
du musée et ressortent un peu plus loin. Une moto se gare juste à l’entrée des buissons,
le motard tout en combinaison noire descend l’escalier sans même ôter la visière de son casque.
Rapidement, je me rends compte que c’est une histoire de baise gay.
Le mystère s’éclaircit. Je découvre un incroyable terrain de chasse, à cent mètres à peine
du plus célèbre des musées. Le labyrinthe des Tuileries et l’un des rares jardins parisiens ouvert
24h/24h car sans grille. Il s’agirait d’une tradition datant du 18ème siècle et peut-être même d’avant.
Il y a aussi des histoires plus contemporaines de drogues dures, de coups de couteau et
de police. À force de m’y promener, j’ai fini par être médusé par ces buissons éventrés servant
de cachette aux plaisirs hasardeux.
Abîmés, déplantés, replantés, pour au final être arrachés, ils offrent pour la plupart des ouvertures
ressemblantes à des terriers. De peur de voir disparaître ce jardin que j’ai quand même connu
et arpenté bien avant d’être informé de ses secrets, j’ai commencé à photographier cet endroit aux instants
où le ciel offre ses plus belles palettes de couleurs. N’étant moi-même pas un pratiquant de ces buissons,
il m’a semblé important de garder une pudeur romantique, un décor d’Alice au pays
des merveilles rempli de protagonistes inconnus et multiples. »
